This amazing focaccia bread is topped with fresh rosemary and roasted garlic. It is crispy and so tasty!
If you want to make a delicious homemade focaccia bread, you will not be wrong with this recipe. You only need to follow the guides.
Ingredients for the dough:
500g bread flour
1g instant yeast
350-400ml luke warm water
1/2 tbsp salt
4 tbsp olive oil
Ingredients for the topping:
Handful of garlic cloves
Olive oil, enough amount to cover garlic cloves
Fresh rosemary
How to make the dough:
Watch the process:
- In a stand mixer, add flour, yeast and lukewarm water, roughly mix. Cover and let it sit for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Add 1 tbsp olive oil and salt and knead the dough for about 15 minutes on a low speed.
- When the dough is leaving the sides of the bowl, stop the mixer. (This dough should be sticky)
- Place the dough in a deep bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit at a room temperature for about 1-2 hours.
- Then transfer it into the fridge overnight for 24-48 hours.
6. Next day; add 1-2 tbsp of olive oil to your baking tray (use appropriate size tray for double size of your dough), remove the dough from the oven and transfer it into the baking tray.
7. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil on top and stretch the dough to the sides of the tray with your fingers. It doesn’t have to cover the whole tray.
8. Cover and leave it for another 1-2 hours at room temperature until it doubles its size.
9. Preheat the oven to 200C(400F) 30 mins before baking.
10. When the dough doubled its size, drizzle some more olive oil on top, and oil your finger too. Now, gently dimple the dough with the tip of your fingers. :
How to prepare the toppings:
- Preheat your oven to 200C (400F).
- Place the garlic cloves in a small baking pan, add enough amount of olive oil to cover the garlic cloves.Bake them for about 20 minutes and remove from the oven to cool.
- Soak the fresh rosemaries in water for about 10 minutes, so they don’t get burnt quickly while baking.
11. Then add your toppings as you like and Bake it for about 20-25 minutes at 200C (400F) until it is golden crisp.
12. You can drizzle it with more olive oil after you remove it from the oven or not. Let it cool for 15 minutes and you can enjoy! 🙂
Notes:
- If you do not want to fermentate the dough in the fridge and make it quicker, you can let the dough sit at room temperature for 4-5 hours.
- You can use different toppings as olives, tomatoes, sesame seeds.
- Every oven is different, keep an eye on your bread and remove it from the oven once it is golden crisp.
