Ingredients you need for Apple Caramel Upside Down Cake
For the caramel sauce:
1/2 cup brown sugar
60g butter
2 tablespoons heavy cream
For the cake batter: (Note: This cake doesn’t require perfect measurements, therefore cup measures will work!)
3 eggs
110g unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup yoghurt or sour cream
1 and 3/4 cups flour
1.5 teaspoons baking powder
1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
Vanilla
2-3 sliced apples on top
How to make it:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C. (356° F)
- Put all the ingredients for caramel in the sauce pot and cook over medium heat. After boiling, cook over low heat for 3-4 minutes, then set aside and let it cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix softened butter and sugar. (You can beat it with a hand mixer to dissolve the sugar.)
- Add egg, yogurt, and vanilla and mix well.
- Then add dry ingredients; flour, baking powder, and cinnamon, and mix all the ingredients until they are completely homogeneous.
- Place the apples at the bottom of your cake mold as you wish. Pour half or 3/4 of the caramel sauce over the apples.
- Finally, pour the cake batter on top.
- Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
- Don’t forget to check the oven because the speed of each oven is different. When you insert a toothpick and it comes out dry, you can take it out of the oven.
- Let it rest for 15-20 minutes, turn the cake upside down on your serving plate and pour the remaining caramel on top and serve.
